Appy Friday Doodle Fit

Doodle Fit

Doodle Fit is a fun, simple game where players have to figure out the correct arrangement of blocks to complete a pattern. It’s easy to learn, but the levels ramp up in difficulty to make sure that you don’t get bored. Not to mention, it’s a great way to work on spatial reasoning and geometry.

Appy Friday Pet Bingo

Pet Bingo by Duck Duck Moose

Back again with another math game app from Duck Duck Moose. Pet Bingo, much like the other Duck Duck Moose apps, is a fun and cute way for your kids to develop math skills through play. This time around, the problems slant toward an older audience, with bingo games designed to test math skills through primary school (e.g. 4-digit addition and subtraction).

Appy Friday Flipboard

Flipboard

Flipboard is an all-in-one news source. The app is organized a bit differently than a lot of news apps; the way it works is that you select a topic, identify and tag your interests within that topic (like, say, Politics, #Elections) and the app will then pull and generate stories relevant to your interests from across the web. Flipboard offers a great way for anyone to access news they care about and stay in the know.

Appy Friday iNaturalist

iNaturalist

There are a lot of good science apps out there, but not a lot for a scientific community. iNaturalist changes that by introducing some fun social features to a reference-based foundation. Users can take pictures of specimens they see in nature (animals, for example), identify the species for reference, then upload the photo and geographic data. Community members can then access these posts on their maps, offering a fun tool for planning out nature walks and observations!

Appy Friday HelloChinese

HelloChinese

HelloChinese is a great learning app for beginners. It offers a comprehensive introduction to the writing and pronunciation right off the bat, as well as notes and tips for each lesson. The narration is smooth and organic, which is super important for a tonal language like Mandarin. And the app offers little lessons in Chinese culture as well!
